Digitiser: The Probe
The Digitiser Probe is able to digitise an edge profile, such as a clock escapement or engine plate, with a repeatability of better than 0.05mm. The absolute accuracy will of course depend on the accuracy of your machine when driving the probe around the profile.
The Digitiser Probe and a custom tip
Accurate detection, with good repetition
The probe uses 3 sensing contacts to provide reliable detection in all horizontal planes and vertically upwards. The contacts are phosphor bronze on hardened steel giving excellent wear characteristics. The substantial all metal construction supports the switching unit with no measureable compliance.
Maintenace free with a long life
The probe is well engineered for long term accuracy. The body is machined from brass and the steel 2 Morse mounting is hardened and ground.
Changeable tip
Many items to be digitised will be done using the probe at its simplest, a 6mm straight tool steel shaft, as supplied. However some items may require a different touch. To this end the probe has a M4 threaded end to allow you to fit a custom made tip.
Crash detection built in
The Digitiser software makes use of an 'out of limits' contact in the probe to ensure that you don't crash into the item you're tracing through the use of unsuitable parameters.
Using your CNC system with the Probe
If your controller supports digitising simply connect the probe to the interface and configure the controller to the manufactures instructions.
If your controller runs under Windows and does not directly support digitising then we supply a minimal interface to allow XYZ digitising using the Digitiser software.
The Digitiser Probe and interface
If your controller runs under DOS and does not directly support digitising the Digitiser software enables digitising through your interface.
